Getting in to College

The process of getting in to college definitely has its flaws.

First of all, no one tells you about this little test called the ACT until your a Freshman in highschool and then they say you don't need to worry about it until your a Junior. This is a LIE, you need to get practice books, take courses, maybe even take it once before you're a Junior. You should take this test very seriously because this is 1 of 2 numbers that will define you until you are in college. Also, if you ask me, the ACT is not a very good test of what you've learned in highschool. The Science section is not even real science, all the answers are right there, you just have to read impossible graphs. Also, what about History? We all have to take it, so why isn't that on the test? Another flaw, someone could get lucky. There's a girl I know that isn't an amazing student and doesn't really try in school and yep...you guessed it! She got a 31 the first time she took it. I ended up with a 27. Doesn't seem fair does it?

The other number that will define you is your class rank. Now this can be good or it can be very, very bad depending on where you go to school. If you go to a school in a little town that is not very competitive, this is a good thing for you. If you just work a little harder and get your grades up, you should have a pretty good class rank. I go to a very competitve school and we have around 15 girls tied for 2nd. This is bad because that pushes everyone else back about 15 places from where they should be. I make fairly good grades, all As & Bs and I have around a 3.8 GPA. Doesn't sound so bad right? Wrong, my class rank is around 65 out of 125. This doesn't make me look very good now does it?

Ok, now that I'm done ranting I'll tell you that I have already been accepted into college and I am now working on getting a scholarship. Again, it would be nice to have better numbers, it would make it much easier for me to get a scholarship. I'll get back to y'all on whether or not I get one, I should know in the beginning of March.

Have great rest of the holidays!

Marley & Me / Benjamin Button

Marley & Me.

This movie is a must-see for all animal lovers. Any pet owner can relate to this movie in many ways (especially if you have or have had at least one crazy pet). Also, like any pet, even though Marley isn't perfect, you fall in love with him anyway. I would definitely recommend seeing this movie.

Benjamin Button

This definitely makes you think. There's one line in the movie that completely changes the way you look at death. It basically says, you must lose people in your life or you won't realize how much you loved them. Now, of course people don't like to hear this because no one wants to lose anyone, but if you think about it, this is a very true statement. Not only will this movie change the way you look at death, but it will also change the way you think of life. I won't say anymore because I don't want to ruin it for you. Before you see it I want to warn that it is about 3 hours long but don't let that stop you from seeing it, it is a wonderful movie.

If you do see these movies please comment, I would like to see what y'all think.
